Rachel comes from an upper middle class life in America where it is well developed and she lives with a family five including two siblings. Sophia comes from lower middle class in China where it is process of being developed and she is the only child. Sophia’s parents saved their money all their lives to send her abroad to study so that she could experience the world outside of China for the first time. Rachel spent years of traveling prior to studying in London so that she could continue to broaden her horizons. They were classmates in an anthropology masters program at University College London, and their friendship were formed during their year abroad.
They share tales of their friendship, political and current issues in their homeland, and very different lifestyles as China rise into power while America struggles to remain the world’s most powerful country.
